Job Title: Early Years Educator / Nursery Practitioner (Level 3) – Forest School
Location: Longhope, Gloucestershire
Salary: £28,080 – £30,500+ per annum (DOE)
Hours: Full-time or Part-time available (e.g. 40 hours over 4 days)
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Level 3 Early Years Practitioner to join our unique Forest School nursery setting in Longhope.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a nature-based, outdoor learning environment, supporting children aged 0–5 years to explore, learn, and develop through hands-on experiences.
We welcome newly qualified practitioners who are eager to begin their Early Years career in a nurturing and inspiring setting, as well as experienced candidates with a love for outdoor education.
Key Responsibilities
Planning & Development
Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate activities aligned with the EYFS, with a strong focus on outdoor and nature-based learning
Encourage curiosity, creativity, and independence through Forest School principles
Key Person Duties
Act as a Key Person, building strong relationships with children and their families
Observe, assess, and record children’s progress, supporting their individual development
Safeguarding & Welfare
Maintain the highest standards of safeguarding, health, and safety, particularly in an outdoor environment
Ensure children are safe, supported, and encouraged to take appropriate risks in their learning
Personal Care
Support children with daily routines including meals, personal care, and outdoor activities in all weather conditions
Teamwork
Work collaboratively with colleagues to create a positive, inclusive, and inspiring Forest School environment
Engage with parents and external professionals when required
Requirements
A full and relevant Level 3 Early Years/Childcare qualification (NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent)
Good knowledge of the EYFS framework (training and support provided for newly qualified candidates)
A genuine passion for outdoor play and learning
Previous experience in a nursery or early years setting is desirable but not essential for newly qualified applicants
A clear, enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
